Mamelodi Sundowns star Teboho Mokoena has high praise for his teammate Siphelele Mkhulise, comparing him to the legendary Andrés Iniesta.

Mokoena’s Praise for Mkhulise’s Talent

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Siphelele Mkhulise,” Mokoena shared with iDiski Times. “I admired his natural style ever since I first saw him play for Black Leopards. Everything he does on the field looks so effortless, and when you train with him, you see his incredible skills every day. This guy is just so talented.”

Mokoena expressed that while Mkhulise’s brilliance is often underestimated, he believes the midfielder’s abilities are on par with some of the best in the game. “I think people may not fully realize his talent because he’s been in the same team for so long. It’s a bit like when you’ve been with one group for years, and they don’t always see the full potential of a player,” he continued. “But I love the way he plays.”

Describing Mkhulise’s style, Mokoena went on to say, “He’s got that Mbule-style – he reminds me of Iniesta. He can dribble, he can pass, and he just connects so well with the team. Watching him with the ball is a joy. He’s fantastic.”

Sundowns’ 4-1 Victory Over Pirates

In other news, Mamelodi Sundowns delivered a powerful 4-1 victory over Orlando Pirates, essentially crushing the Buccaneers’ hopes of winning the Betway Premiership this season. A header from Grant Kekana, two goals from Lucas Ribeiro, and a shot from Mokoena himself gave Sundowns a commanding nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Despite the poor condition of the pitch at Loftus Versfeld, which many claimed might have impacted the game, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was firm that it was not an excuse for the loss.

“Whatever I say about the pitch will be a headline tomorrow, but I don’t want to justify the result by focusing on that,” Riveiro stated. “Both teams had to play on the same field, and Sundowns found a way to win. Yes, the conditions weren’t ideal, but we can’t use that as a reason for our loss. It was a tough match for both teams, and the field was a big risk in terms of injury.”

This win for Sundowns solidifies their status as the team to beat in the PSL, with a solid lead at the top of the standings.
