Mamelodi Sundowns wrapped up their 2024-25 Betway Premiership campaign on a high note, beating Magesi FC 2-0 in their final match. This victory was especially sweet after Magesi had knocked them out earlier this season in the Carling Knockout Cup final.

From the very start, Sundowns took control and put constant pressure on Magesi’s defense. Their persistence paid off early β€” within just four minutes, Lucas Ribeiro Costa capitalized on a rebound from a missed shot by Iqraam Rayners and calmly flicked the ball past goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze to give Sundowns the lead.

Ribeiro came close to doubling the lead shortly after when he connected with a low cross from Modiba, but his shot went just wide. Moments later, Rayners almost scored with a powerful header off Ribeiro’s cross, but the ball hit the post and stayed out.

Magesi’s goalkeeper was also in top form, denying a close-range attempt by Rayners in the 19th minute to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

In the 22nd minute, Ribeiro showed why he’s been such a crucial player for Sundowns all season, scoring his 16th goal from a perfectly taken set piece, expertly assisted by Marcelo Allende.

Later, Allende delivered another dangerous set piece aimed at Artur Sales, but the attack was stopped due to a foul call inside the box.

This win was a fitting way for Sundowns to close out a dominant season, showcasing why they deserved the title.
