Fiston Mayele, the in-form striker for Pyramids FC, has finally spoken out about long-standing rumours linking him to Kaizer Chiefs. With his team preparing for the second leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns, Mayele confirmed there had been contact—but says now isn’t the time to dwell on it.

Mayele Confirms Chiefs Contact—But Stays Focused on the Final

“Yes, the rumours about Kaizer Chiefs are true,” Mayele told KickOff.com ahead of the 1-1 first leg draw against Sundowns. “Coach Nabi spoke to me back in December. But right now, I’m focused on the final. This isn’t the right time to talk about transfers. I want to finish the season first—then we can talk.”

While fans had been hoping for more clarity, Mayele made it clear that his priority is helping his team lift the CAF Champions League trophy.

Chiefs Seem to Have Moved On

Despite being linked to Mayele for months, it appears Kaizer Chiefs have stepped back from pursuing the Congolese forward for now. With Mayele fully committed to his current campaign, Chiefs may be exploring other options.

Enter Kingsley Michael?

One of those options could be Nigerian midfielder Kingsley Michael. At just 25, he’s already had an eventful career across Europe, having played for clubs like Bologna, Perugia, Cremonese, Reggina, SV Ried, and DSV Leoben. Currently at Monastir in Tunisia, Michael remains somewhat under the radar internationally, with just one cap for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Could Chiefs shift their focus to bolstering their midfield instead of the attack? Time will tell, but it’s clear the club is keeping its options open.
