There’s increasing speculation that Relehobile Mofokeng might not be at Orlando Pirates next season. The 20-year-old star has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Barcelona, Al Ahly, and Glasgow Rangers.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos believes this could be Mofokeng’s final season with the Buccaneers. “I just hope he makes the right decision and doesn’t end up at a club where he won’t play,” Broos shared with iDiski Times.
“Looking at all the rumors about Barcelona, Rangers, and so on… I’m a bit concerned. I just hope those around him choose what’s best for his career, not just what’s financially tempting,” Broos continued.
He added, “I’m sure his parents want the best for him, but there’s also that temptation of making a lot of money. I hope I’m wrong, but in June, I don’t think Rele will still be a Pirates player. It’s crucial that he makes the right choice.”
Should Mofokeng leave, Cape Town City’s Jaedin Rhodes could be the ideal replacement. Reports suggest Orlando Pirates had shown interest in the 21-year-old forward in January and, despite failing to secure him then, will try again in the next transfer window.
“He’s been a target for a while now,” SoccerLaduma confirmed. “Pirates were looking at him for January, but now they have more time to work on it and will continue to pursue him in the upcoming window. The interest is there, for sure.”
