As Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro prepares to leave at the end of the season, the search for his replacement is heating up, with Pitso Mosimane emerging as a potential candidate. The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, who is currently without a club, has sparked speculation about a possible move to Pirates.
Speaking during an event for his Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools (PMSS), Mosimane addressed the rumors, revealing that while he had not been contacted by Pirates, he didnβt completely rule out the possibility of a move. βIβve seen the links to Pirates, but nobody has spoken to me. We will see,β he said. When asked about returning to the Premier Soccer League, Mosimane was open, saying, βWhy not? It must be for the right project, at the right time.β
However, despite the speculation, Mosimane might not be the top choice for Pirates. Given his recent successes abroad, it’s likely that his market value could exceed what Pirates are able to offer. Many are now tipping another former Sundowns coach, Rulani Mokwena, to be the frontrunner for the job.
