The Brazilian midfielder has been in outstanding form this season, racking up 10 goals and 9 assists in 26 appearances. Cardoso expressed hope that Sundowns would be able to retain Ribeiro, but also acknowledged that the 26-year-old’s future could be uncertain.
Cardoso said, “When I first arrived, I spoke to Lucas, who was already in great form, and I told him that there’s always room to improve. He needs to have ambition and continue developing himself every day. We focus a lot on the mindset of our players. With commitment, hard work, and a strong will to improve, Lucas can go far. Teammate Ronwen Williams also praised Ribeiro’s abilities, especially after his impressive performances in recent matches against SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates. “He’s a special player, a special talent,” Williams said. “He brings that Brazilian flair and has a willingness to learn.
