Mamelodi Sundowns will host Orlando Pirates at Loftus Stadium on Saturday for a highly anticipated Betway Premiership clash, with kick-off set for 15:30.

This match is a top-of-the-table showdown between two of South Africa’s biggest football clubs, both vying for the league title. Sundowns lead the standings with 39 points from 14 games, while Pirates are second with 33 points from 13 matches.

Many fans agree that Pirates need the three points more than Sundowns in this encounter, as the Buccaneers are seen as the main challengers to Sundowns’ dominance in the league. However, to secure these crucial points, the Soweto giants will have to put in a hard-fought performance against the formidable Brazilians.

The focus will be on two standout players in the game: Lucas Ribeiro Costa for Sundowns and Relebohile Mofokeng for Pirates. Both players have been exceptional this season, sparking debates about who is currently the best player in the league.

These two players are in their second full season in the PSL with their respective teams, and their contributions have been undeniable. Ribeiro Costa has been involved in 12 goals in just 12 league appearances for Sundowns, scoring seven goals and providing five assists. Mofokeng, at 20 years old, has contributed to seven goals in the 13 league games he has played for Pirates.

With both teams fighting for supremacy, all eyes will be on Ribeiro Costa and Mofokeng to see if they can shine in this high-stakes encounter.
