Kaizer Chiefs are facing a crucial chance to end their 10-year trophy drought, but their fierce rivals, Orlando Pirates, could have the final say in this highly anticipated showdown.
Orlando Pirates Come in as Favourites?
Ahead of the massive clash on Saturday at Moses Mabhida, former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokeke Tsotetsi weighed in, suggesting that Orlando Pirates could be the favorites for the match.
“This is going to be a tough game. To be honest, Chiefs haven’t been playing up to their usual standards lately,” Tsotetsi shared with the media.
“While Chiefs are capable of beating Pirates, their lack of consistency has been a major issue. That’s why Pirates often have the advantage in these derbies—it all comes down to consistency,” he continued, speaking to Kick Off.
“Chiefs typically start strong, but their performance tends to dip in the second half. The cohesion and understanding among the players are key factors in these games.”
Tsotetsi remains hopeful, however, stating that Chiefs will be motivated to redeem themselves after their previous derby loss. “I would love to see the coach come up with some new tactics that will catch us all by surprise,” he added.
Despite Pirates having played against Golden Arrows on Tuesday and resting a few players, Tsotetsi still believes Chiefs have a chance, especially with key players like Relebohile Mofokeng who could spoil the Pirates’ plans.
