Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club’s supporters for standing by the team during challenging times.
The 29-year-old midfielder from Atlantis, Western Cape, was the hero in the recent Nedbank Cup final, scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates that ended Amakhosi’s 10-year wait for a trophy.
Speaking after the match, Maart highlighted the crucial role the fans played in lifting the team throughout a tough season. “All glory to the Almighty. I also want to thank my teammates, the technical staff, and especially our supporters who never stopped believing in us—even when things weren’t going our way,” he told SuperSport TV.
Maart, who was named Man of the Match, credited unity and spirit for the victory. “This win wasn’t just about tactics or talent—it was about heart, togetherness, and love for the badge. Without that, we don’t make it here.”
Describing his winning strike, Maart said, “I kept my focus, said ‘Bismillah’, and hit the ball with confidence. I trusted the moment.”
