Bafana Bafana will face Lesotho in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier next month, and the match will be held at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The upcoming clash isn’t just another game on the calendar. It marks a significant event for the city, province, and the entire nation as we rally behind our team’s effort to secure a spot at football’s biggest event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” said Limpopo Premier, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba.
The match will take place on Friday, March 21, with the South African national team then heading to Benin to face the West Africans in their next qualifier on Friday, March 24.

Pitch Readiness Ensured
In a media briefing, the Limpopo Provincial Government, alongside the South African Football Association (SAFA), confirmed Polokwane as the venue and reassured fans that the pitch is ready for the crucial match.
SAFA president Danny Jordaan emphasized that the association remains committed to taking Bafana Bafana to various regions across the country. “We are excited to bring the team to Polokwane. Following the success in places like Mangaung, Gqeberha, and Cape Town during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, we are eager to see a full, passionate stadium in Limpopo,” said Jordaan.
Details about kick-off times and ticket sales will be released by SAFA soon.
Bafana Bafana has been drawn into Group C for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, alongside Lesotho, Rwanda, Benin, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe. With CAF increasing the number of direct qualifying teams, the qualification process is set to be more intense than ever.
