Kaizer Chiefs may have just pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, but not everyone’s impressed—especially former player Junior Khanye.
Khanye: “Chiefs Players Are Just Average”
Speaking on iDiski TV, Khanye didn’t mince his words, claiming the current Chiefs squad lacks real quality. “Kaizer Chiefs have got average players,” he said. “With the exception of Gaston Sirino, the rest just aren’t good enough. That’s why teams like Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy approach matches against them without fear—every team believes they can beat Chiefs.”
Despite the big result against Sundowns, Khanye believes the issues run deeper than one good performance can cover up.
Teko Modise Urges Patience with Coach Nasreddine Nabi
On a more optimistic note, former midfield maestro Teko Modise has come out in support of head coach Nasreddine Nabi. Speaking to iDiski Times, Modise highlighted the importance of giving the coach more time and support to implement his ideas.
“I think coach Nabi deserves a chance—more time and a few signings that fit his style,” Modise said. “He’s still working with a squad that struggled last season. You can change coaches all you want, but if the players aren’t adapting or buying into the system, you won’t see progress.”
Modise believes that Nabi could be the long-term solution Chiefs need—if the club invests properly and gives him the tools to succeed.
