Esteghlal FC’s head coach, Pitso Mosimane, has bolstered his squad by signing former Cape Town City striker Masoud Juma. The Kenyan forward, known for his international experience, joins the Iranian side on a short-term deal running until June 2025 after departing Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Jabalain Football Club.

Mosimane, a highly respected South African tactician, took charge of Esteghlal FC recently and is determined to turn the team’s fortunes around. Currently eighth in the Iranian league with just four wins in 11 matches, the club is hoping Juma’s addition will inject much-needed attacking firepower.

Juma, 28, has played across Africa and Asia, bringing valuable experience to the squad. His stint in South Africa included a spell under Benni McCarthy at Cape Town City in 2018, where he managed a solitary goal before his departure. Despite a modest scoring record during his time in the PSL, Mosimane believes Juma’s work ethic and fighting spirit will prove crucial in Esteghlal’s push for better results.

The move has sparked excitement among South African football fans, many of whom took to social media to express their support for Mosimane’s bold decisions. Known for his success with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, Mosimane’s track record has instilled confidence that he can replicate similar achievements in Iran.

As Esteghlal FC looks to climb the league standings, Mosimane and Juma will aim to prove that this partnership can make a significant impact in the Iranian league. Fans eagerly await to see how the striker fits into Mosimane’s tactical setup in the coming fixtures.
