Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley Du Preez, despite facing a lack of regular game time this season, has set personal goals to maintain focus and motivation. After a relatively active 2023/24 season, where he made 27 appearances and scored six goals, Du Preez has found himself on the sidelines under the new technical team led by Nasreddine Nabi. He has only appeared as a substitute in six matches this season, managing just one goal so far.
In an interview with the media, the 27-year-old emphasized the importance of setting personal targets, even when things arenβt going his way. He explained that, despite not being a regular starter like he was last season, he remains determined to work hard and improve. “Iβm not letting the lack of regular play get me down. Iβve always been pushing myself to be in the starting lineup, and when I get the chance off the bench, Iβm ready to help the team win,” Du Preez said.

He also acknowledged the guidance heβs received from Coach Nabi, who has outlined expectations for him in the teamβs tactical setup. However, Du Preez recognizes that it is ultimately the coach’s decision regarding the starting lineup, and he is focused on improving his performance every day. “I just work on improving myself every week, taking the coachβs feedback on board, and doing my best when called upon,” he added. His mindset shows his commitment to the team and his determination to seize opportunities when they arise.
