The news has been widely shared: after repeated disciplinary problems, Sipho Mbule has been released by his loan club, Sekhukhune United, where he was sent from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Daniel Cardoso Urges Mbule to Save His Career
Sekhukhune United’s captain, Daniel Cardoso, recently opened up about Mbule’s situation, revealing that the midfielder was let go after showing up to training under the influence of alcohol—a final straw after several warnings.
“It’s really sad to watch what’s happening with Sipho,” Cardoso said on the Soccer Beat Podcast. “We’ve had many talks, but unfortunately, this latest incident led to Sekhukhune letting him go.”
Cardoso, pictured training with Sekhukhune, expressed concern for Mbule’s future:
“I’m not sure where he is now—probably back at Sundowns. He should be shining in the national team because he’s a great talent and person. But these disciplinary issues are holding him back. At 26, we all go through tough phases, but sometimes it’s too late to realize the damage, and I hope that’s not the case for him.”
He added:
“Sundowns wanted him back after his strong run with us, especially to play at the Club World Cup. But with all the negative headlines now, that opportunity seems unlikely.”
Cardoso’s message to Mbule was clear and heartfelt:
“If Sipho sees this, I hope it motivates him to make changes. He’s got the talent to play in Europe or anywhere in the world. Sipho, brother, I hope you turn things around and get your career back on track.”
