Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has responded to speculation about his potential departure from the club in June, following a frustrating 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United in Polokwane.

When asked about the rumours, Nabi didn’t hold back. He dismissed the reports as media-driven and unfounded, saying, “These stories are coming from journalists, not from within the club.”

He went on to emphasize that his focus has always been on preparing his players—especially after a demanding final fixture and the challenges that come with playing after a festive period.

“I appreciate the effort from the players. Despite all the distractions and celebrations, they stayed focused and committed throughout the week,” he said.

However, Nabi clearly wasn’t happy with the way the rumours have been handled in the press. “When it comes to me, it’s always the same question—‘Is Nabi staying?’ That’s not fair or respectful,” he stated. “I respect the media, but I expect the same in return. These kinds of stories create unnecessary confusion within the team.”

The coach’s comments suggest that the speculation has had an impact on morale, and he’s calling for more responsible reporting as the club looks to steady itself during a crucial time.
