Following the recent goalkeeping shake-up at Kaizer Chiefs, Rwanda national team manager Adel Amrouche has opened up about the difficult spot his star goalkeeper, Fiacre Ntwari, now faces at the Soweto giants.
Kaizer Chiefs, one of South Africa’s most storied football clubs, recently made waves by altering their goalkeeping roster in a bid to improve defensive solidity. This move has directly impacted Ntwari, who joined Chiefs with high hopes of becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and further boosting his career on the big stage.
However, the competition between the sticks at Chiefs has intensified, and Ntwari now finds himself navigating a tricky period — fighting for minutes while adapting to a demanding environment with fierce rivals vying for the same spot.
Speaking exclusively about this challenge, Adel Amrouche said:
“Fiacre is a talented goalkeeper with great potential. This phase is tough for any player, especially a goalkeeper, where only one can be on the pitch at a time. But I believe in his professionalism and mindset. He is working hard every day, and the competition at Chiefs will only make him stronger.”
Amrouche, who has closely followed Ntwari’s development from the Rwanda national team perspective, emphasized the importance of patience and resilience in such situations. He noted that while game time is crucial, the experience of training and competing at a top club like Kaizer Chiefs is invaluable.
“It’s important for Fiacre to stay focused, keep improving in training, and take every opportunity when it comes,” Amrouche added. “Sometimes, the journey is not straightforward, but with his talent and work ethic, I’m confident he will overcome this.”
Ntwari’s presence at Kaizer Chiefs also holds significant meaning for Rwandan football. As one of the few Rwandan players in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), he serves as a role model for young players back home, showing that talent and hard work can open doors to bigger leagues.
For Kaizer Chiefs, the goalkeeper position remains a critical area as they look to solidify their defense and chase silverware in the upcoming season. Whether Ntwari will reclaim the starting spot or carve out his role as a reliable squad member remains to be seen, but the challenge is clear.
As the Soweto giants gear up for another competitive PSL campaign, all eyes will be on how this goalkeeping battle unfolds — and how Fiacre Ntwari responds to the pressure of competing at one of Africa’s biggest football stages.
One thing is certain: with his national team coach standing firmly behind him, Fiacre Ntwari has the support and guidance needed to navigate this challenging chapter in his career.
