Miguel Timm’s time at Orlando Pirates appears to be coming to an end. The experienced midfielder, who has seen little game time this season with just three cup appearances, is expected to part ways with the Buccaneers when his contract expires on June 30.
At 33 years old, Timm is set to become a free agent, and there’s already talk of interest from PSL rivals. Sekhukhune United and AmaZulu, who were reportedly after him during the January transfer window, are likely to revive their pursuit in the upcoming off-season.

In another major shift at the club, head coach Jose Riveiro is on his way out. The Spanish tactician, who has been linked with a move to Al Ahly, requested an early release from his contract following the Nedbank Cup final loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
After his final match in charge — a 3-0 win over Golden Arrows — Riveiro made an emotional statement:
“They’ve looked after me since day one. Even now, as I leave, they still care. I’m grateful, and I’ll never forget that,” he said.
“I will never coach another team in South Africa. I’m a Buccaneer. Orlando Pirates is the only club I could ever have the heart, energy, and motivation to coach here.”
Pirates Eyeing Kaizer Chiefs Target Mayele
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are in the hunt for a new striker — and their focus has shifted to Fiston Mayele, a target previously linked with Kaizer Chiefs.
An insider confirmed the interest:
“There’s been contact, but nothing finalized yet. Mayele’s camp is testing the waters to see if Pirates are ready to move seriously.”
Given their current need for a reliable goal-scorer, and after Mayele’s impressive performances against Pirates in continental competition, a deal could very well be on the cards.
