Eben Etzebeth has just made his return to action after battling an injury and concussion that kept him sidelined for most of the year.
With the 2025 season approaching, the Springboks would have been keeping a close eye on his fitness and form, and there was understandable concern when Etzebeth had to leave the field on a golf cart during the 27th minute of the Sharks’ 29-10 victory over Ospreys at Kings Park on Friday night.
Post-match, Etzebeth was seen on crutches, but the good news is that his injury doesnβt seem to be too serious.
“Eben is OK,” Sharks coach Plumtree told IOL. “I’m not sure if he’ll be ready for this weekend’s game against Scarlets, but we’ll assess him later in the week. Heβs looking better, and he should be fine moving forward.”
With a home playoff match on the horizon, the Sharks are still in the running for a top-three finish in the league phase, depending on how other results play out. A win over Scarlets could secure that spot.
