Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has opened up about the depth of talent in his squad, admitting the challenge of keeping all 37 players involved while praising those who recently seized their chance.
Young Talent Steps Up in Golden Arrows Victory
After Pirates’ hard-fought 2-1 win over Golden Arrows, Riveiro took a moment to highlight the impact of players like Yanga Madiba, Simphiwe Selepe, and Karim Kimvuidi—the latter walking away with the Man of the Match award.
“These kinds of games allow us to tap into the full strength of our squad,” Riveiro said after the match. “It was a great chance for Karim to build momentum and consistency, which is vital at this level.”
“No Weak Links” in the Squad, Says Riveiro
Speaking to iDiski Times, the Spanish tactician emphasized that every player on the team has a role to play.
“We don’t carry anyone in this team. Every player is here because they bring value,” he said. “The tough part is that, with such a large squad, not everyone gets their chance every week. It’s impossible to be totally fair with 37 players.”
Riveiro acknowledged the professionalism and patience his players have shown, stressing the importance of being ready when called upon.
“I’m thrilled to have this kind of selection dilemma—it means our squad is healthy and competitive,” he concluded.
