Ace Ncobo, a former FIFA referee and current General Manager of the Premier Soccer League, is facing serious fraud and money laundering charges related to a school construction project funded by PetroSA’s corporate social investment (CSI) programme. The R15 million allocated for the rebuilding of Gangatha Secondary School in the Eastern Cape is under scrutiny, as a forensic investigation revealed that only R5.9 million worth of work was completed out of the R13 million designated for the project.

Ncobo, alongside his wife, Salome Twaise Ncobo, appeared in court on Monday to face charges tied to the alleged mismanagement of the funds. The couple is accused of inflating costs and delivering substandard construction, with structural defects requiring nearly R400,000 in repairs.

To protect SuperSport’s image, Ncobo stepped down from his role as an analyst on the popular show Extra Time. He maintains his innocence as the case continues, with a follow-up court date scheduled for 29 May.

The NPA has also accused Ncobo of money laundering, claiming that he funneled R15.19 million through various bank accounts connected to unregistered entities. These include Gangatha Projects and Eseswe Projects, with Ncobo’s company, Ace Ncobo Development ILE Projects, allegedly being used to misappropriate funds. The investigation is ongoing, and the public eagerly awaits the resolution of these serious allegations.
