Orlando Pirates fans still remember the pain Congolese striker Fiston Mayele causedβ€”but in a surprising twist, he could soon be wearing the black and white jersey himself.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed early discussions between Mayele’s representatives and the Buccaneers, hinting at a possible blockbuster move. “Talks have started, but nothing is final yet. Still, there’s a real chance this could happen,” an insider revealed.

From Nightmare to Dream Signing?

Mayele famously crushed Pirates’ CAF dreams, scoring twice for Pyramids FC in the second leg of their tieβ€”including a last-minute winner that knocked Jose Riveiro’s side out of the competition. Now, the very man who shattered their hopes could be brought in to help them chase new silverware.

Previously linked with Kaizer Chiefs after Nasreddine Nabi’s arrival, Mayele is now reportedly being monitored closely by Pirates.

β€œThe striker’s camp is feeling things out with Pirates to see if they’re ready to make a firm offer,” the source added. β€œPirates need a clinical striker, and after what Mayele did against them, it’s obvious he fits the profile.”

Pyramids Fighting to Keep Their Star

Despite local interest, Mayele’s current club, Pyramids FC, are not backing down. According to Soccer Laduma, they’ve already offered the striker a lucrative two-year extension in a bid to keep him in Egypt and fend off potential suitors.

β€œThey know teams are circlingβ€”including Chiefs and othersβ€”so they’re moving fast to lock him down. The new deal would also boost his value significantly,” a source close to the club revealed.

With the transfer window approaching, the question now is: will Mayele haunt the Buccaneers again, or help lead them to glory?
