Kaizer Chiefs’ George Matlou has always won over supporters with his clean technical skill on the ball, and now, after a long road to recovery, he’s back to show what he can do on the pitch.
Matlou Opens Up About His Recovery Journey
“I’m just happy to be back,” Matlou said, speaking to Kick Off. “It’s been a tough period for me. Recovering was not easy, but now I’m fully fit and ready to give it my all.”
The midfielder had been battling with injuries for nearly a year, unable to take part in team activities as he struggled to return to full fitness. “It was tough being away from the game I love. Training was hard because I was just watching my teammates while I had to go to the gym instead of being out on the field,” he admitted.
Despite the challenges, Matlou says the journey taught him valuable lessons. “It was a difficult time, but I’ve learned a lot through it. I’m just happy to be back playing, and I’m excited for what’s ahead,” he said, reflecting on the mental and physical hurdles he had to overcome.
Gratitude for Chiefs’ Support
Matlou also expressed gratitude to Kaizer Chiefs for sticking by him during his injury struggles. “It’s natural to worry about your future when you’re going through something like this, but I’m thankful that the club believed in me and gave me the chance to stay.”
Now, with his fitness restored, Matlou is eager to return to the pitch and show Chiefs’ fans what he’s capable of.
