South African stars are making waves in Moroccoβ€”and Thembinkosi Lorch just reminded everyone why he’s one to watch.

The former Orlando Pirates playmaker scored the decisive goal in Wydad Casablanca’s dramatic 2-1 win over AS FAR on Saturday evening, helping the club snap a frustrating six-match winless streak in the Moroccan Botola Pro League. With this crucial victory, Wydad are now just three points behind second place, keeping their hopes of a strong league finish alive.

Fellow South African, Cassius Mailula, also played a key role. He provided the assist for Samuel Obeng’s opener in the 31st minute, setting the tone for Wydad’s confident start. AS FAR equalized in the 57th minute through Abdelfettah Hadraf, but it didn’t take long for Lorch to restore order. The midfield maestro calmly slotted home the winner in the 67th minuteβ€”showcasing his composure and match-winning instincts.

Despite the absence of head coach Rulani Mokwenaβ€”who is currently on special leave and set to part ways with the clubβ€”Wydad showed resilience and determination when it mattered most.

South African talent continues to shine abroad, and this win was a timely reminder of the influence our players are having on international stages.
