Orlando Pirates have been struck with a significant setback in their hunt for a new head coach. After three seasons in charge, José Riveiro will step down from his position at the end of the season, leaving a major gap to fill at the helm of the Buccaneers.
However, fresh reports now indicate that one of the coaches the club had set their sights on is no longer interested in taking the role.
Davids Turns Down Pirates’ Approach
In a surprising twist, Fadlu Davids, currently managing Simba SC, has reportedly declined an offer from Orlando Pirates. According to insider sources, Pirates were keen to bring Davids back to the club, but the former assistant coach at Orlando Pirates has opted to remain in Tanzania.
“It’s true that Pirates were interested in bringing him back, and Raja Casablanca was also in the mix. But Davids wants to stay with Simba,” an insider revealed. “He’s still got unfinished business there. The fans adore him, and he’s on the brink of something special with the club.”
Davids has indeed been making waves in Tanzania, and he’s now just one step away from continental glory. His team, Simba SC, has qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup final, where they’ll face Morocco’s RSB Berkane in a battle for the trophy.
