Orlando Pirates could potentially finish the season with earnings surpassing R100 million if they clinch both the Betway Premiership and the CAF Champions League titles.

While their chances of winning the league are slim, their aspirations for CAF Champions League glory are still alive following a goalless draw with Egyptian side Pyramids in the semi-finals’ first leg. Next month, Pirates will meet Kaizer Chiefs in their second final of the season, as they compete for the Nedbank Cup.

How can Orlando Pirates achieve R100 million in earnings?
Having already secured R10 million for winning the MTN8, the Buccaneers stand to earn an additional R75 million if they lift the CAF Champions League trophy. If they also triumph in the Nedbank Cup, their earnings would reach R92 million.

With a near-guaranteed top-two finish in the Betway Premiership, Pirates are set to earn at least R10 million more. All these winnings will push their total earnings well over R100 million. To date, the Buccaneers have already accumulated around R35 million, which surpasses last season’s total.

The Champions League alone provides a substantial boost, with reaching the final potentially rewarding Pirates with around R30 million. With this financial windfall, Orlando Pirates will be well-positioned to enter the transfer market, possibly signing high-profile players like Fawaaz Badadien, Oswin Appollis, and Fiston Mayeleβ€”especially if they manage to knock out Pyramids from the competition.

The second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final against Pyramids takes place this Friday evening.
