Kaizer Chiefs’ thrilling run to the Nedbank Cup final has brought some optimism, but their league form remains a sobering reality. Without a win in their last five PSL matches, they currently sit in eighth place on the standings, just scraping into the last MTN8 qualification spot.

With Chippa United (9th) and Golden Arrows (10th) nipping at their heels, the race for MTN8 qualification is tighter than ever. Chippa are just one point behind, with two games in hand, while Arrows trail by two points but have three games in hand, making Chiefs’ hopes of securing a spot outside their control.

Nasreddine Nabi’s Call for Mental Toughness

After a frustrating 0-0 draw against Chippa United on April 19, head coach Nasreddine Nabi emphasized the mental side of the game. Speaking at the post-match conference, he said, “We tried to prepare our players mentally. The smart players know they can’t repeat mistakes once they’ve made them.”

He further stressed, “If we don’t prepare mentally 100%, we can’t win any game.”

Fiston Mayele – Chiefs’ Top Transfer Target

Looking ahead to the off-season, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly making a strong push for Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele. The Congolese forward has been identified as a key target, and Chiefs are eager to secure his signature. However, Pyramids FC have moved quickly to extend Mayele’s contract by two years, a move that could derail Chiefs’ hopes of landing him.

The Egyptian club knows they face stiff competition for the player’s services, with Chiefs not the only club showing interest. “They are doing everything to keep him,” Soccer Laduma reports, including offering him a new contract to increase his market value.
