There’s growing buzz around Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena, with a potential European move heating up behind the scenes.
The Brazilians have locked Mokoena down with a long-term deal, giving them the upper hand. But that doesn’t mean he’s off the market. Word is, if the right price lands on the table, Sundowns could consider cashing in.
A top-tier Ligue 1 club from France is now being linked with the 28-year-old midfield dynamo, who joined Sundowns from SuperSport United back in 2022. Since then, Mokoena has racked up nearly 300 professional appearances—a staggering number for a player his age.
Transfermarkt currently values him at around R48 million, and it looks like that figure isn’t scaring off European suitors.
“It’s becoming tough for the club to hold on to Tebza,” a source told Soccer Laduma. “Interest in him never stops. The latest comes from a French side. I can’t name the club just yet, but the approach has already been made.”
Sundowns could soon face a decision—keep their engine room intact or let one of South Africa’s finest talents chase his European dream.
