Kaizer Chiefs may be without at least five key players when they face Marumo Gallants this Saturday afternoon.
Amakhosi have struggled in the league, with their last win coming in March against Magesi FC, and the pressure is mounting as the battle for the top eight intensifies. Chiefs must find their form quickly to avoid finishing outside the top eight for the second consecutive season.
For this upcoming match, Chiefs will be missing several important players. Gaston Sirino and Pule Mmodi will both be sidelined after picking up their fourth yellow cards in the match against Chippa, which automatically triggers a one-match suspension. Additionally, Dillan Solomons, Rushwin Dortley, and Miguel Inacio are all expected to miss out due to injuries. Solomons had to be substituted during the Chippa match, and Nabi expressed concern over the number of injuries his defensive lineup has sustained this season.
“I want to thank players like Zitha, Dove, and Njabulo Blom in defense after we lost so many players to injury,” said Nabi. “We’ve been unlucky with injuries, but we still have a good group.”
The injured players include Miguel, Dortley, Solomons, Frosler, and Edson Castillo. While Solomons and Miguel may return before the end of the season, Dortley’s recovery timeline remains uncertain. With at least five matches remaining, including the Nedbank Cup final, Chiefs face a tough challenge in the final stretch of the season.
