Milutin βMichoβ Sredojevic, the former Orlando Pirates head coach, has parted ways with Sudanese club Al Merrikh SC after just three months in charge.
Reports from Kickoff suggest that the 55-year-old Serbian coach left due to issues with unpaid wages. Micho, who had two separate stints with the Buccaneers, could be a potential candidate to return to the club following Jose Riveiroβs departure. While no official replacement has been announced yet, other names, including Pitso Mosimane and Gavin Hunt, are also being considered for the job.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma last month, Micho expressed his deep affection for Orlando Pirates. βI highly value and sincerely appreciate your approach towards me,β he stated, reflecting on his past with the club. βWith the clubβs motto, Once and Always, I have remained a loyal supporter of the club despite being physically away.β
When questioned about the possibility of returning to the Pirates, Micho emphasized the importance of focusing on the clubβs ongoing competitions. βInstead of diverting attention from the football field, I want them to put total focus and concentration on ongoing competitions,β he said. However, he added that any future developments regarding his return would be beyond his control, expressing that he would remain a proud member of the Sea Robbers family wherever he was.
Although Michoβs return to Orlando Pirates is unlikely, given the circumstances surrounding his departure from the club, his strong connection with the team may still make him a contender for the role.
