As always, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are expected to clash in the transfer market as they pursue the same players.
Pirates Urged to Target Oswin Appollis and Fawaaz Basadien
Itβs no secret that Kaizer Chiefs have shown interest in signing Polokwane Cityβs 23-year-old winger, Oswin Appollis, and Stellenbosch FCβs 28-year-old left-back, Fawaaz Basadien.
Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Moeneeb Josephs, believes the Sea Robbers should also target these two players to strengthen their squad for next season.
On the Soccer Beat podcast, Josephs stated, βIf you look at Appollis and Basadien, they could be quality additions for Orlando Pirates, especially as they aim to compete on the continental stage [CAF Champions League].β
He went on to say, βTo succeed at that level, depth is key, and a player like Basadien, who has been consistent all season, would be a great signing. He has the ability to take set pieces and the stamina to run up and down the flank, which would bring something extra to the team.β
Josephs also praised Appollis, adding, βIf Relebohile Mofokeng moves to Europe, signing someone like Appollis would be a top move. Heβs dynamic, playing well in a number 10 or false 9 role, and is effective on both wings. We could use him in the 10 position alongside Kabelo Dlamini and Patrick Maswanganyi, which would create more competition in that area.β
Josephs concluded by emphasizing that both signings would be valuable for Piratesβ future ambitions.
