Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly set their sights on Michael Olunga, the Kenyan striker currently playing for Al-Duhail in Qatar.
As reported in local media over the past few months, Amakhosi are eager to secure Olunga’s services during the upcoming June transfer window. The striker’s recent performances are only fueling Chiefs’ interest. Olunga netted his 12th goal of the season in 17 appearances as Al-Duhail triumphed 4-2 over Al Ahli SC in the Qatar Stars League last Saturday. Additionally, the 30-year-old has contributed 4 assists this season, showcasing his impressive form.
NASREDDINE NABI EXPLAINS WHY HE JOINED KAIZER CHIEFS
Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach Nasreddine Nabi opened up about the motivation behind his decision to take on the challenge of coaching Amakhosi.
“For me, this is a personal challenge,” Nabi shared with iDiski Times. “Back in Tunisia, Kaizer Chiefs was like the Juventus or AC Milan of Africa. Now, 20 years later, it’s an honor to coach this club. I didn’t come here for money; I came for the challenge. I had other lucrative offers from Algeria, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia, but I gave my word to Mr. Kaizer Motaung Jnr. and I’m here to help bring Chiefs back to their rightful place in South African football.”
He emphasized that his journey was not about building a career but about tackling a significant challenge at a renowned club in a powerful football nation.

THE NEED FOR TIME AND PATIENCE IN BUILDING SUCCESS
Nabi acknowledged the importance of time and patience in creating a successful team at Kaizer Chiefs.
“What I need is patience,” Nabi said. “The process of building success here is not an overnight job. It requires understanding, respect, and patience. We can’t expect to win two or three games and suddenly say Chiefs are back. It takes time to build something solid, and sometimes people don’t respect the process. I understand fans are emotional, but I ask for their patience.”
Nabi also reiterated that he was in it for the long haul, stating, “I trust myself and have confidence in the direction we’re heading. I know exactly what we need at Chiefs, and all I need is time to implement it. I also ask for respect for myself and my staff. We must remain united, and not let anyone divide us. If we lose, it’s a loss for the team as a whole, not just the coach or individual players.”
