Mamelodi Sundowns Set to Rake in Millions at FIFA Club World Cup – Can They Take the Title?

Mamelodi Sundowns are about to make even more money as they secure a spot in the highly anticipated FIFA Club World Cup. The competition, which has been revamped for 2024, will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13. Sundowns, alongside 31 other top clubs, will be competing for a share of the tournament’s massive cash prize.

The South African side is one of four African teams in the tournament, joining Al Ahly, Esperance, and Wydad Casablanca, thanks to their consistent semifinal finishes in the CAF Champions League over the last decade.

According to FIFA, each of the 32 participating clubs will receive a share of the tournament’s $1 billion (R18 billion) pot. This amount will increase as teams advance further in the competition.

Group F and Fixtures

Sundowns have been placed in Group F and will face some tough competition. Their opponents include South Korea’s Ulsan HD FC, German giants Borussia Dortmund, and Brazil’s Fluminense.

Here are their fixtures:

  • Wednesday, June 18: Ulsan vs Sundowns at 00:00, Inter & Co Stadium, Orlando, USA
  • Saturday, June 21: Sundowns vs Borussia Dortmund at 18:00, QTL Stadium, Cincinnati, USA
  • Wednesday, June 25: Sundowns vs Fluminense at 21:00, Hard Rock Stadium, Florida, USA
