Monnapule Saleng has been released from the Bafana Bafana squad to return to Orlando Pirates.
The 26-year-old winger made his first appearance in three months during the CHAN qualifiers with the national team, after being sidelined by Pirates since early December.
Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki decided to release Saleng, along with three other players, after evaluating the team’s structure and squad needs. Ntseki explained that adjustments were made based on performance and the upcoming match against Egypt, leading to the decision to bring in new players and release those who were less needed.
With his return to Pirates, it remains uncertain if Saleng will feature in their upcoming match this weekend. The Buccaneers are set to face off against SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, and fans will be waiting to see if Saleng makes a return to action for the club. His last appearance for Pirates was in December, during a CAF Champions League match against Al Ahly.
