Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing an ambitious move for talented Sundowns playmaker Neo Maema, who may become available in the upcoming transfer window.
Kaizer Chiefs Target Maema
Reports suggest that Chiefs are interested in signing 29-year-old Maema from Mamelodi Sundowns. The Bloemfontein-born player has struggled for regular game time this season, with just five league appearances. Maema made the move to Sundowns from Royal AM in July 2021.
Sundowns is reportedly planning to downsize their squad at the end of the season, creating an opportunity for Chiefs to make a move. The club has been keeping a close eye on Maema and believes they could secure his signature if Sundowns allows him to leave.
Ranga Chivaviro’s Uncertain Future
Meanwhile, Chiefs have the option to extend Ranga Chivaviro’s contract by another year, but no decision has been made. The 32-year-old has scored three goals in 16 league appearances so far this season.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi has emphasized the mental toughness needed to meet the high expectations of Chiefs fans, hinting at the pressure on Chivaviro. “The next few months will be crucial for him to decide his future at the club,” said a source close to the club. Although Chivaviro had hoped to score more goals by now, there are still many games left to turn things around before the end of the season.
