Kaizer Chiefs’ management is reportedly growing increasingly uncertain about head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s performance this season, with some decision-makers even contemplating whether to part ways with the Tunisian tactician.
Since taking charge, the 59-year-old has faced mounting pressure, especially after AmaKhosi found themselves slipping to the bottom half of the table late last year. Now, with 20 league games played, the club is at a crossroads regarding Nabi’s future.
Management’s Growing Concerns
According to SoccerLaduma, the club’s leadership expected to see significant improvement by now, given the high hopes surrounding Nabi’s appointment. However, results have not aligned with their expectations.
“It’s becoming increasingly difficult for the management team,” the publication reported. “They believed the team would be showing progress by now, but things are not going as planned. They want more than just good football—they want results.”
A major sticking point is Chiefs’ struggle against the league’s top teams. “The club has lost to all the so-called big teams, and that’s a key concern for management,” the report continued. “They feel Nabi has had enough time to prove himself, and with the squad they’ve assembled, they believe they should be competing with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.”
With the season progressing and the team failing to meet expectations, dissatisfaction within the Chiefs’ hierarchy continues to grow.
Chiefs Eyeing Attacking Reinforcements
Amidst their struggles, Kaizer Chiefs are actively looking to bolster their attack. Initially, the club had been monitoring top strikers like Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, but reports now suggest they are shifting their focus toward Young Africans forward Prince Dube.
“The club is assessing their chances of securing a new striker, and right now, Prince Dube appears to be the most viable option,” a source revealed. “Other targets like Olunga and Mayele seem difficult to acquire, making Dube the club’s primary focus. He’s in good form at Yanga, which has made him an appealing choice.”
Aside from strengthening their attack, Chiefs are also prioritizing reinforcements at left-back, signaling a busy transfer window ahead as they look to turn their season around.
