Orlando Pirates didn’t make any signings during the recent transfer window but had a player training with them as part of their preparations. Despite participating in three competitions, the club felt confident that their existing squad was strong enough to compete without additional signings.
Pirates have performed well in the CAF Champions League, topping their group, which included the defending champions, Al Ahly. Their continental campaign will resume in April, and until then, they will continue defending their Nedbank Cup title, with SuperSport United awaiting them in the quarterfinals.
Given the packed schedule, Pirates’ current squad will certainly face a heavy workload, especially with recent injuries to players like Thalente Mbatha and Thabiso Sesane. According to Soccer-Laduma, Pirates are now turning their attention to bolstering their defense, with Stellenbosch FC’s Thabo Moloisane reportedly their top target for the next transfer window.
Pirates are keen on strengthening their central defense, and Moloisaneβs recent growth as a player, combined with his experience in African competitions, makes him an ideal candidate. Additionally, the club is also looking to reinforce both the right and left-back positions ahead of next season’s challenges, including their CAF Champions League campaign.
