Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has provided an update on the injury of striker Tashreeq Morris.
The 30-year-old forward suffered a significant setback during Chiefs’ 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend. Despite the defeat at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Nabi and the team found some positives in their performance as they look ahead to upcoming matches.
Morris had to leave the field in the first half and was replaced by Ashley Du Preez. Since joining from SuperSport United in January, Morris has struggled to find his rhythm in the four games he has played for Chiefs.
βHe will be out for about six or seven days,β Nabi told iDiski Times. βIt was a big loss for us because he brings a lot to the team. Heβs a great presser who doesnβt give defenders a break. After he went off, we saw that the centre-backs had more time on the ball.β
Nabi added, βHeβs a classic number nine who can hold the ball and provide space for the team to push forward and attack. He offers a lot when heβs on the field.β
With Chiefs set to face Magesi FC on Tuesday, Nabiβs side will be without Morris and suspended midfielder Thabo Cele. This opens the door for players like Ashley Du Preez, Edson Castillo, and Ranga Chivaviro to step up and make an impact.
