Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that Tashreeq Morris will miss tomorrow’s match against Magesi FC.

The 30-year-old striker, who has yet to score in his first five appearances for the club, has been under scrutiny, and his latest injury news is likely to intensify that. Morris was substituted in the 26th minute during the game against Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday. The injury, though, is minor, with an expected recovery time of around seven days.

β€œHe’ll be out for about six or seven days,” Nabi told iDiski Times.

β€œIt’s definitely a blow for us because he’s a striker who brings a lot to the table. He’s a strong presser and doesn’t allow defenders to relax. But after he went off, we noticed that the centre-backs seemed more comfortable with the ball.

β€œHe’s also a classic number nine, the kind of player you can rely on to hold up the ball and give your team time to push forward and attack. He’s also a strong presence in the box and can finish off crosses, which really affected our game plan today.”

Looking ahead, Kaizer Chiefs’ defeat to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns leaves them in eighth place, still in contention for a spot in next season’s MTN8 Cup, but there’s a lot of work to do.

For the Glamour Boys, qualifying for the MTN8 is now the immediate goal, but they continue to trail behind their rivals, Pirates and Sundowns. Sundowns, in particular, are looking increasingly dominant after Pirates’ loss over the weekend.
