Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo believes that the club’s three new signings have been living up to expectations.

Fresh Energy in the Squad

Khumalo noticed a positive change in the team’s performance, saying, β€œYou could see in their recent matches that the new signings have brought a fresh energy.” He specifically praised Tashreeq Morris for his movement and ability to engage defenders, noting that he looks comfortable with the ball.

Speaking about Glody Lilepo, Khumalo said, β€œThe Congolese player came to Chiefs with the awareness of their trophy drought and seems determined to make a difference. However, he might be putting too much pressure on himself, trying to do everything too quickly. But he’s a good player, as seen with his goals, and just needs to calm down a bit. I truly believe he’s what Nabi was looking for in attack.”

Khumalo also complimented Thabo Cele’s presence in midfield, drawing a comparison to former player Wellington Manyathi. β€œCele has that commanding presence, an arrogance that shows he believes he’s the boss on the pitch. Chiefs have definitely made good signings,” Khumalo concluded.

Brian Baloyi’s Thoughts on the New Signings

Kaizer Chiefs icon Brian Baloyi also gave his take on the new arrivals, expressing some reservations about Morris. β€œI’m still not convinced by Morris. Of all the January signings, he’s the one I’m unsure about,” Baloyi told FARPost. β€œI haven’t seen enough to say he’s a good signing for Chiefs, but I hope he turns it around and starts scoring. At least he’s getting playing time.”

However, Baloyi was more optimistic about the other signings. β€œCele has been solid in midfield and showing his worth as a good signing. Lilepo, too, has added value in attack by scoring and creating opportunities.”

Siyabonga Nomvethe Reflects on Khune

Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe shared an interesting anecdote about his encounters with South African goalkeepers, including Itumeleng Khune.

β€œThere are many keepers I’ve faced, but Khune is the only one I couldn’t quite beat,” Nomvethe said with a chuckle in his interview with iDiski Times. β€œHe’s the only one who got lucky. I’d look at him and think, β€˜This one’s definitely going in.’”
