Kaizer Chiefs fans from the Western Cape are frustrated following recent developments regarding their team’s upcoming match.
No Stadium Availability in the Western Cape
According to the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal fixture, Kaizer Chiefs will face Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, March 8. However, due to rugby matches scheduled at the DHL Stadium and Athlone, Stellenbosch FC has been forced to relocate the game to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Eastern Cape. While Stellenbosch’s Danie Craven Stadium is available, it unfortunately doesn’t meet the required security standards to host a high-profile team like Kaizer Chiefs.
Brian Baloyi’s Thoughts on New Signings
Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi has shared his thoughts on the club’s January signings, with a particular mention of Tashreeq Morris. “I’m still not convinced by Morris, he’s the one player that hasn’t impressed me yet,” Baloyi told FARPost. “I haven’t seen enough to say he’s a solid signing for Chiefs, but hopefully, he can prove me wrong and start scoring, at least he’s getting game time.”
Baloyi added, “On the other hand, players like Cele and Lilepo have been adjusting well. Cele has been strong in midfield, and Lilepo has added something in attack, scoring and creating chances for the team.”
Siyabonga Nomvethe Talks Itumeleng Khune
Kaizer Chiefs legend Siyabonga Nomvethe reflected on his career and recalled his battles with goalkeepers, mentioning Itumeleng Khune as the only one who gave him trouble.
“There have been many keepers, but Khune is the only one I haven’t been able to beat properly,” Nomvethe shared with iDiski Times. “He’s the only one who got lucky—every other keeper I’ve faced, I’ve managed to score past them. When I saw Khune in goal, I thought, ‘This one’s going in for sure.’”
