Kaizer Chiefs Eyeing Two Bafana Bafana Midfielders
Sphephelo Sithole
A trusted insider at Kaizer Chiefs, known as Khabazela, has revealed that Amakhosi have set their sights on 25-year-old Sphephelo Sithole, a midfielder currently playing for Gil Vicente in Portugal’s top division. According to Khabazela, Sithole, who hails from Durban, is eager to return to South Africa, and Chiefs have already made the first move to bring him back home.
Luke Le Roux
In another exciting development, Chiefs are also eyeing 24-year-old Luke Le Roux, who plays for Värnamo in Sweden. However, there is competition, as Le Roux’s agent seems to be pushing for a move to Mamelodi Sundowns. Le Roux is expected to earn another call-up to the Bafana squad next month, having recently captained his team to a 3-2 victory over Degerfors.
PSL Fines Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for Misconduct
In other news, both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have been fined by the PSL following incidents of spectator misbehavior during the Soweto derby on 1 February.
Kaizer Chiefs were hit with a fine of R100,000, of which R50,000 is suspended, as a result of re-offending after a similar issue in October last year. If Chiefs are found guilty of the same offense within the next 12 months, the suspended fine will become payable.
Orlando Pirates, who were fined for a missile-throwing incident by their supporters, received a fine of R100,000, with R25,000 suspended. Like Chiefs, they were penalized for re-offending after a similar issue in November.
In total, Chiefs will pay R150,000, while Pirates will pay R125,000. Both clubs will also share the costs of the disciplinary hearings.
