Kaizer Chiefs face selection dilemmas ahead of their Nedbank Cup Round of 16 match against Chippa United.

Yusuf Maart suspended for Chippa clash
Chiefs will be without key midfielder Yusuf Maart, who is suspended after accumulating four yellow cards this season. Njabulo Blom is expected to step in, having been on the bench for their recent 1-0 win against Stellenbosch. Thabo Cele, the new signing, is likely to keep his spot in the lineup, while Inacio Miguel will captain the team in Maart’s absence. Mduduzi Shabalala, who was a substitute in the Stellenbosch game, is also expected to start.

Upcoming Fixtures
Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Chippa United at home on Saturday, 15 February at 18:00, following their 4-0 victory over Free Agents FC. After that, they will meet former coach Gavin Hunt and his SuperSport United side on Tuesday, 18 February at 19:30 in the Betway Premiership.

Mdantsane’s Struggles at Chiefs
Mduduzi Mdantsane’s time at Kaizer Chiefs has been far from smooth. After his peak market value of R22.8 million in February 2023, he now stands at only R11.4 million, according to transfermarkt. Injuries, including a serious car accident, have hindered his performance, and even when fit, he hasn’t lived up to the expectations at Naturena. The midfielder, who cost Chiefs around R13 million, is now on loan at Richards Bay, and it remains unclear if Chiefs will be able to recover any of that investment. Despite his evident talent, he has failed to make a lasting impact.
