Thulani Serero, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder, has returned to South Africa and is reportedly gearing up for an exciting potential return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

According to iDiski Times, Serero is set to begin training with Cape Town City, where he’ll be under the guidance of the club’s newly appointed coach, Muhsin Ertugral. The two have a history together, having worked closely at Ajax Cape Town many years ago.

The 34-year-old hasn’t played in a competitive match since June 2024 but has been staying in shape through personal training. His most recent club was Khor Fakkan in the UAE, after a storied career that included stints at Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse Arnhem in Europe.

Serero left South Africa in 2011 as one of the PSL’s brightest stars, having won multiple individual awards, including Footballer of the Season. Over his career, he’s made 450 club appearances, scored 34 goals, and provided 33 assists. On the international stage, he earned 43 caps for Bafana Bafana, netting two goals.

Despite not having any formal discussions about a potential deal, reports indicate that Serero’s arrival in Cape Town could be the first step towards his return to the PSL with Cape Town City.
