Orlando Pirates have reportedly turned down a significant offer for one of their standout young talents, Relebohile Mofokeng.
The rising star has been the center of attention for multiple clubs in recent transfer windows, causing a stir at Pirates. Before the window even opened, Mofokeng was linked to a move to Barcelona ‘B’. Although many were excited by the potential, these rumors turned out to be exaggerated, with the connection only stemming from a Barcelona coach asking former AmaZulu coach Pablo Martin about the player.
Following that, Al Ahly became the next club linked with Mofokeng, with reports claiming they saw him as an asset to strengthen their squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. However, Pirates firmly stated that he was not for sale. Additional reports from Egypt suggested that it was actually agents pushing for the transfer, rather than the Egyptian club itself.

The most recent rumor came from another North African club, Wydad Casablanca, who were reportedly considering a tempting offer for the young talent. Ultimately, however, these rumors proved to be unfounded. But a more substantial offer from North Africa has now surfaced. According to Soccer-Laduma, Zamalek made a formal bid of $1.4 million (R25.8 million) for Mofokeng, which Pirates rejected.
On February 8, the last day of the Egyptian transfer window, Zamalek reportedly made their move, aiming to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season. Despite their interest in Mofokeng, Pirates stood firm and turned down the offer, as the Siya Crew confirmed.
With Zamalek’s bid now rejected, Pirates fans may be curious about their club’s decision. How do you feel about the rejection? And how much do you think Mofokeng is worth? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
