Kaizer Chiefs’ new forward, Makabi Lilepo, picked up an injury during their 1-0 win over Stellenbosch on Friday. The 27-year-old Congolese forward sustained a thigh knock and had to be substituted. However, sources have confirmed that the injury is not serious, and Lilepo is expected to feature in their next match.

β€œIt’s not a major injury,” a source shared. β€œIt was just a precautionary measure to avoid further strain. He felt discomfort in his thigh, but by the time the team flew back on Saturday, he was already feeling better.”

Despite his minor injury, Lilepo has joined the team for recovery sessions and is expected to be fit for their upcoming match against Chippa United. With almost a week to prepare, he should be ready to play.

In addition to Lilepo’s injury, Kaizer Chiefs are also dealing with several other injured players, including:

  • Edmilson Dove
  • Wandile Duba
  • Edson Castillo
  • George Matlou
  • Dillan Solomons

Matlou, who was injured during the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, has missed recent games but is progressing well with the medical team. Whether he will feature against Chippa United depends on team selection.

Lilepo is expected to be available for Kaizer Chiefs’ upcoming Nedbank Cup clash against Chippa United in the Round of 16.
