Kaizer Chiefs fans can breathe a sigh of relief as injury updates for Makabi Lilepo and George Matlou suggest both players are on track to return for the upcoming Nedbank Cup match against Chippa United on February 15.
Lilepo’s Injury Update
Lilepoβs injury is not serious, according to sources close to the team. It was a precautionary measure to avoid further strain after a thigh knock, which had caused some discomfort. By the time the team flew back on Saturday, Lilepo was already feeling much better and had rejoined recovery training. With almost a week left to build his fitness, he is expected to be ready for the Chippa United game.

Lilepo has been impressive so far, scoring the winning goal in the 87th minute against Stellenbosch and contributing a goal and an assist in his first three matches for Chiefs.
Matlou’s Injury Update
As for George Matlou, his injury occurred during the Soweto Derby, which led to him missing the matches against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch. However, reports suggest that his recovery is progressing well, thanks to the medical and conditioning teams. While his participation in the Chippa United match will depend on the team’s selection, Matlou is feeling much better and should be ready by Saturday.
