Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are both reportedly eyeing 24-year-old striker Muzomuhle Khanyi, who currently plays for Hungry Lions.
Khanyi has been in exceptional form this season, netting 17 goals in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. His impressive goal-scoring record has caught the attention of the two Soweto clubs. If he continues his strong performances, Khanyi could secure a major contract by the end of the season.
While Chiefs recently signed a new striker in the January transfer window, Pirates have been rotating between Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa, both of whom have delivered average performances this season. This could explain why the Buccaneers are in search of a reliable goal-scorer. However, it remains to be seen if Khanyi can maintain his goal-scoring consistency.
According to Soccer Laduma, Pirates have been monitoring Khanyi for months but have yet to make an official offer. Chiefs, however, have recently joined the race for his signature. With the team from Naturena continuing to struggle in front of goal, they may be more desperate for Khanyiβs services than Pirates.
A source close to the situation confirmed to Soccer Laduma that both clubs have shown interest in the player this season.
βChiefs have made inquiries about Khanyi, and it looks like he will be leaving Hungry Lions at the end of the season. This is a player that Pirates have had their eye on for a while, and now Chiefs are showing interest too,β the source told the publication.
