Kaizer Chiefs are back in high spirits after a narrow 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at Athlone Stadium last weekend. Following a tough loss to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby and a draw with AmaZulu, Nasreddine Nabi’s side is ready to build on their momentum as they prepare to face Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday at FNB Stadium, scheduled for 18:00.

As Kaizer Chiefs approach the end of the season, they must make decisions on several players with expiring contracts. One of the key names is Edson Castillo, whose deal is set to expire in June. Zamalek FC, the Egyptian giants, have shown interest in the 30-year-old midfielder, who hasn’t seen action since suffering a fibula injury in October. Reports suggest Chiefs have not yet offered a contract extension, which could allow Zamalek to secure Castillo on a free transfer.

Sources confirm that Zamalek’s pursuit of Castillo is serious, with talks between the player and the club likely to follow. The situation is further complicated by the recent arrival of Thabo Cele and Castillo’s injury, which may lead to a decision soon.
