Orlando Pirates are reportedly in pole position to sign AmaZulu’s talented winger, Tshepang Moremi.
The 24-year-old has scored just once in the Betway Premiership this season, but his potential has still attracted interest from top clubs. According to Soccer Laduma, the Buccaneers could sign Moremi in the upcoming transfer window if they are unable to land Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis.
Although Kaizer Chiefs were initially linked with the winger, it seems Orlando Pirates have taken the lead in the race for his signature.
“As mentioned, the outcome will depend on negotiations, which could include money and player exchange. The value of Moremi and what AmaZulu demands from Pirates will ultimately determine how the deal unfolds,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Orlando Pirates Overtake Chiefs for Moremi? Despite not signing any new players during the January transfer window, Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro expressed satisfaction with his current squad. This season, Pirates have been more successful than Kaizer Chiefs, with a 12-point gap between the two teams. Chiefs, who have made 10 signings this season, were also targeting Moremi, but they failed to secure him.
“With the signing of Appollis becoming more difficult, Chiefs are now focusing on AmaZulu winger Tshepang Moremi as a backup plan. He’s a viable option if they can’t bring Appollis in,” an inside source revealed.
It remains to be seen if Orlando Pirates will manage to snatch another Amakhosi target, especially since Masandawana have shifted their focus after securing Jayden Adams.
