Breaking news: ANC MP Soviet Lekganyane has been elected chairperson of Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating serious corruption allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The decision comes after EFF leader Julius Malema declined a nomination from MK Party MP David Skosana to lead the committee. Lekganyane’s appointment places him at the forefront of a politically charged inquiry into claims of interference and misconduct within the South African Police Service.

As the committee begins its work, all eyes will be on Lekganyane to steer a transparent and credible investigation into one of the most explosive scandals in recent policing history.
